02/16/2019 -  An Aside from Trident in Wuxia

Trident looked toward the sky-harbor from atop the tower's balcony. Taking out her her lighter and cupping her hand over her mouth, she lite her cigarette and took a long drag. The wind was harsh and cold up here, but the night-scape would too good to pass up. She flicked her lighter open, closed, open again with a satisfying "click" each time. The building lights in the Wuxian capital sparkled in her eyes. She took another drag, her hair whipping around. She stopped clicking her lighter and held her breath in--keeping the warmth within her chest. She exhaled, tossing the cigarette over the roof, as she saluted with her middle finger.

A roaring explosion of tumultuous noise ripped the night! The air glowed for a moment--as if the sun had briefly returned to the sky. Fiery whistles, screaming sparks, and thunderous pieces scattered from a Rhen destroyer in docks. Angry flames spewed out molten fragments. The waves of sound were chased by tangible ripples of force through the air.

The ship's decks were gone, replaced by mountains of intense fire. The ships nearby were dark and scorched--victims to the inferno still blazing next to them. People cried as the ran, some were human-torches. Buildings and docks too close to the explosion were black splinter of falling ruble. Sirens and screams echoed through the streets.

Trident blinked with a smirk. "Last night, a terrible explosion happen at Port Ryu," she started, mocking a radio announcer. "The explosion happened on a Rhen military destroyer--which presumably had no ammunition or explosive cargo on board. The Admiral Krieger refused to comment on the incident."

"And I thought it was your sister that was the actress," came a female voice from behind. Trident glanced over her shoulder to see Shiori. She wore a leather jacket and dark trousers. She walked over and gave Trident a hug.

"True, we both perform for an audience, but we act on two very different stages." They looked towards the chaotic scene before them, still embracing each other. Their faces lit by the wreckages of the ships and surrounding docks.

Trident sighed, "Two very different stages indeed."
