THE OLD GODS

GODS AND CONCORDANCE: A SUMMARY

Choosing a deity to worship drastically changes how you might interact with, or be perceived by, the world around you. Actions you take will have a lingering consequence. You may gain special boons or abilities working for or with your deity. You will act as their patron, their messenger, their warrior, and their missionary. Beyond that, you can petition your deity in times of great need.

Concordance is the measure of how pleased your deity is with you. If they are pleased enough to reward you, you are “in concordance” with them. Certain actions can make you gain or lose concordance. Failing to act when you have an opportunity causes you to lose concordance, as an example.

PETITIONING YOUR DEITY

As an action, you can petition your deity for aid. You may be blessed, ignored, or even punished for repeated badgering.

The DM will roll on the individual god's concordance chart, adding 1d100 + "character concordance points" as follows:

-30 points: Player is actively rebelling against God or doing things that would displease greatly
-15 points: Player is occasionally rebelling against God or doing things that would displease them
+0 points: Player is not rebelling God in any way, but is not going out of way to be active; patron in name only
+15 points: Player is doing a good amount of work for their God and keeping in alignment with them
+30 points: Player is eagerly following their God in every avenue of their lives, keeping full concordance

In addition, the DM may add:

-10 to -30 points: Player is petitioning their god for repeated blessings, they take the Penalty amount from their individual god's concordance chart. Taking an extended rest at your temple, if you have one, clears any penalties you’ve accumulated from petitioning.
+30 points: Player has built, restored, or dedicated an existing temple to their deity. This itself provides other perks in addition to adding concordance points.
